July Wrap-up + Poems

Hey everyone!

It came to my attention that I still haven’t posted my poems for this month… so let’s do that right now!

Poems:

your soft hands and warm embrace pulled me in

only you can make my tears go away

only you can make me smile.

everyday is valentine’s day, everyday is best friends’ day

when i’m with you.

you make my heart leap and jump around

you make it spin and twirl even when it doesn’t want to.

but, you know, everything is platonic.

i’ll love you with every bit of my heart forever and ever,

know that you will always be my bestest friend

i’ll never forget you, ever

even if we go through hell and back.

so lemme just say one thing to you, the love of my life.

you will always be my friend

and

thank you.

scrambling through the darkness, entering and exiting each passageway that exists

only to find a dead end, a dark muddy wall ready to collapse in any moment

tears spilling off, crawling back to the starting point

repeating the process way too many times, always ending up back at the start

it’s a miracle that somehow she’s at the end

days, months, years spent discovering dead end after dead end

and only then she’s met with the solution

the 12 dead ends and the 13th passageway

who said 13 is an unlucky number? for her it definitely isn’t.

leading to fame and glory, riches and love from all over the world

but first, meeting the walls that held nothing but misery

something that a woman overcame

she persevered, and today we love her for that

she wove worlds from paper and spun stories from ink

today she’s successful, rich, happy, popular, we all know her

but before that, she was a nobody

with only a story to her name (not even completed, mind you)

about a boy who was a wizard and the novels she could tell with him

and now, we think about this and wonder,

after all this time?

and she says,

always.

So.

This is just an ode- to the friends I have, and since today is the 31st of July, to the boy who was a wizard and the woman who created him.

Happy birthday, Harry! And happy birthday, Joanne. Thank you for creating my childhood ❤ and (yes, I’m still a kid BUT) your characters are still a huge part of my life.

July Wrap-up:

July was really busy for me. Like, really really busy. Which meant that I really only read, um, one book. And I started and finished it yesterday 😂 which definitely tells you a thing or two about my month, haha.

So that means I only have one review for you: Copycat, by Hannah Jayne.

This was a fun, quick read! I liked Addie, the main character, and I loved Maya, her best friend. I liked how Addie’s father’s character was developed and the growth shown throughout the story.

However, I think there were still several loose ends that weren’t tied up at the end. For one, although we know who committed the crimes, we don’t know how they did it specifically. Also (spoiler alert!!!) now that we know that the author didn’t orchestrate the murder, we still don’t know anything about the author. At all. These should have been more carefully analyzed.
Overall, good read! I really enjoyed interacting with the author, Hannah Jayne, and I’m glad I bought this book!

What’s going on in my life? + Announcement!

And, of course, this post, which is going up on the last day of July, so it does count as a July post. Seven posts in total! Last month I made nine which is actually a lot, but I don’t think seven is that bad! I’m going to aim for at least six every month from now on.

Life:

I already wrote a whole post on what’s going on in my life, so just click the link above with the same name if you want to know! *no one clicks the link*

By the way, let me know if you’d be interested in guest posting for me! Click the same link that says announcement for more info and email me/ use the contact form on my contact page if you want to! That would make my day!

I got a blogging instagram (aka a bookstagram) so you can find me at @aditi_inamillion. Also, my twitter handle is @1inamillionadi since I haven’t said it before… 😂 (even though it’s literally on my page, I know lots of people only see my blog on the reader. I’m guilty as well, haha)

Anyways, thank you for reading! And have a wonderful day!
