June Poems

a whisper and a little brush of the wind, right by my neck

the sway of the leaves and the howling of the night wolves

buried under huge layers of heavy flannels,

even though we know it’s all just a dream

I saw that flicker of that bright burning candle,

a bit of hope in a bleak universe

so since I now know how beautiful life can be

I might just capture that candle and keep it as my own

because as the crow flies high above the skies

I wait patiently for another candle to shine

a child who’s running, running fast and a girl who’s flying, flying far

what do these two have in common? nothing other than hope

hope, the faith that brings me hope at night.

when all seemed lost and they only saw a muted gray in their eyes,

grounded to the earth and pulled a bit down below

this girl and this child found their way up to the skies

and saw starlight.

when they turned away and soared back to reality,

the stars shone a bit brighter and wrapped their spindly arms around them in a hug

and the two gently snuggled back with the stars and the skies,

back at home.

What does it mean, when someone says see you but never came back?

When they promised to talk to you once more and broke it like brittle lollies

taking your heart with it, snapped in two neat pieces.

All the sweet silvery lies slipping off their tongue

and all the words they coated with honey and you believed.

You stay strong, they told you. Strong as steel.

But you collapse and can’t go any longer

if only they came back.

Have a wonderful day! Ily all ❤

      1. Hey Adi 💙
Aww, no worries! 💙 They were so good 😉 Definitely, it kinda made me at peace with me soul (I sound so hippie but you know what I mean 😂) x Aw, no worries! 💙 It’s okay, it was well it was tough. Thanks! Well, you know that feeling when you don’t know what you have until it’s gone? There was kind of just this void that well, wasn’t filled for a long time 💙 But I’m back on my feet, and stronger. Thanks so much x It helps to get it out which is nice 🙂
Aww I’m so happy about that! I think my new catchphrase for my blog should be “making sweet popcorns days’!” Aha, I’m actually probably going to re-brand (like in a year or so, and I’ll definitely be becoming a popcorn blog ;P)!

I know- oh gosh, I definitely know that feeling. It’s like that emptiness that you didn’t find until something was gone. I’m so glad you’re back on your feet and strong 🙂 It always helps to write or talk about it with someone else.
Hah yesss! Or ‘making sweet popcorns out of sours!’ Oooh nice!! I’ll be waiting! 😉

  3. How beautiful these all are.

You are very good at capturing particular emotions by transforming them into scenes — I love the first one for its lovely, simple descriptiveness, and just the imagery overall is great. Candles, the universe, nature, the beauty of life and hope and comforting flannels — what’s not to love? lol. Really nice job on that one.

The last is (to me) the most emotionally charged; sad and relatable for everyone at some point, with a strong choice of words.

    “All the sweet silvery lies…”
