Heyy people!
So I absolutely love the idea of short story prompts because it’s just so much fun so I really wanted to do a post on. I have nothing else to say except- feel free to make as many plots twists and tweaks as you want! NOTHING is set into stone. I will do more soon. Don’t forget to have fun!
Natural Disasters:
The first few sentences must include your main character facing a natural disaster such as a tornado, hurricane, fire, or earthquake. Make it as long or short as you want!
My Story:
The waves were beating against the shore and tearing up anything that came in their path. Our cottage was completely destroyed, and so would we if we didn’t move quickly.
“Mom! Dad!” I shouted, ducking to avoid a piece of debris. “Shasta!”
Out of the corner of my eye I could see other families evacuating, clutching the hands of children and gripping newborn babies. Yet I couldn’t seem to find my family. I wasn’t about risk leaving without them. For all I knew, they were searching for me and would die here if I didn’t find them.
“Riya! Sheila!” I heard a male voice in the distance. My heart soared- that was my father, searching for me and my mother.
“Dad!” I called back, weaving my way through the panicking crowd to find him.
I stumbled across a rock and fell forward. Thankfully, he caught me and I noticed Shasta, my little sister, by his side. “Riya, where’s your mother?”
I stared back at him, dumfounded…
Riya examined the paper, hoping that this story would be enough to satisfy the requirements of her very demanding English Language Arts teacher. She had wanted a true story- a story that illustrated her most harrowing, dangerous experience. Riya was sure that her story would be the most dangerous. After all, not everyone had experienced a real life tsunami! Although it seemed interesting now, Riya remembered that at that moment, she’d been afraid that she and her family would die.
Well, I supposed this is good enough, she thought. I’ll turn this in first thing in the morning.
So I hope you guys like this and definitely try this prompt!
OMG I love this! I’ve never been tagged in something like this before & I’m super excited to start this (probably won’t find it’s way to being published for a while though 😂)
